This program was created by Past State Commander Brian Weiner. This is a 2-day event on Brigantine Beach. They enhance the psychological and and physical well-being of Veterans, Active Duty through the experience of surfing. This project was founded by American Combat Veterans, and addresses transition challenges such as PTSD, Moral Injury from guilt, and TBI through surf therapy, yoga and community wellness.
The Department Rep for this program is Department Chief of Staff Brian Green. This is a non-profit organization developed for improving the well-being of Veterans, Law Enforcement, and First Responders through the therapeutic power of golf therapy.
The NJVFW Veterans Assistance Program (VAP). The VAP was included in this year’s Commander’s Project to ensure the Department of NJ VFW sustains this important program to serve Veterans in the future. The VAP was initially established in 2017-2018 and has been integral to Veterans in need since its implementation. This program has improved the lives of hundreds of veterans and their families. It has kept a roof over their heads and food on the table keeping them safe and out of crisis. **From NJ VFW website**
